Lenovo is all set to launch the K5 Note in the Indian market on the 1st of the next month. Note that it has already launched in China in January earlier this year. That is the time when the predecessor device, the Lenovo K4 Note, was dumped in India. Now, after almost six months, the latest offering in the Note series is finally coming here. But with a catch! (more on this later).

Lenovo K5 Note

Lenovo K5 Note features a full metal body, which is a worthy upgrade over its predecessor. It runs on Vibe UI, which was based on Android Lollipop back in January, but we can expect it to run on Marshmallow now. The battery capacity of the device is 3,500 mAh (3,300 mAh on the K4 Note) and supports fast charging.

2 GB RAM powers the Chinese variant. But the one coming to India will run on 4 GB RAM (Lenovo has confirmed the same in the video below). That's the catch. It makes sense since the K4 Note itself has three gigs memory, and reducing that amount doesn't sound like a successor.

They are also running a contest on their official Twitter account, and have posted yet another tweet confirming the presence of 4 GB RAM.

The smartphone is powered by MediaTek Helio P10 octa-core processor (eight cores of ARM Cortex A53) clocked at 1.8 GHz, coupled with Mali T860 GPU. It is a significant improvement over the MediaTek MT6753 chipset on the K4 Note.

It supports 4G LTE and VoLTE, along with the usual connectivity features like WiFi and Bluetooth. It is a dual SIM (both nano) smartphone.

There is no change in the storage and display. The inbuilt storage is 16 GB, which is expandable up to 128 GB via a microSD card. Lenovo K5 Note comes with a 5.5-inch FHD display, with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels.

The smartphone features a 13 MP primary camera with Phase Detection Auto Focus, and dual tone LED flash. The secondary camera is a 8 MP shooter. The fingerprint module is placed at the rear of the device.

The device supports Dolby Atmos surround sound system with the proprietary TheaterMax technology. It is compatible with Lenovo's AntVR virtual reality headset.

The smartphone comes in gold and silver color options. In China, it was priced at 1,099 Yuan ($165/₹11,000 approx.). Now that the K4 Note is available for ₹10,999, we expect the K5 Note will be initially priced at ₹11,999. It will be exclusively available on Flipkart.

As reported earlier, Lenovo has today launched its latest entry-level smartphone, the Vibe K5, in India. The smartphone features a 13 MP primary camera. The secondary camera is a 5 MP shooter. The device supports Lenovo's proprietary TheaterMax technology that turns all media into an immersive large screen experience along with the AntVR headset which can be bought separately.

Lenovo Vibe K5 comes in gold, gray and silver color options. It is priced at ₹6,999 ($105 approx.) as expected. It is likely to compete against the likes of Swipe Elite Plus (which offers a full HD display at the same price) and Coolpad Note 3 Lite. The registrations for the same will start today on Amazon, and the first sale will be on June 22nd.

Lenovo Vibe K5 all set to launch in India on June 13th

Since the device is already launched in other markets, the specifications are all known. It features an aluminum body with curved corners. It runs on Vibe UI, which was based on Android Lollipop back in February, but we can expect it to run on Marshmallow now. The battery capacity of the device is 2,750 mAh.

The device is powered by 2 GB RAM and 1.4 GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 processor coupled with Adreno 405 GPU. As is clear from the picture, the smartphone comes in gold, gray and silver color options. Since the Vibe K5 Plus was priced at ₹8,499, the Vibe K5 is expected to cost somewhere around ₹6,999. However, at this price, it will be tough for it to compete against the likes of Swipe Elite Plus which offers a full HD display.

UPDATE: The company just confirmed the presence of a NFC chip along with a fingerprint scanner.

The year is yet to end, and everyone is already gearing up to do their best in the coming year. So are the smartphone manufacturers. Lenovo has confirmed the launch date of its latest offering, the K4 Note, to be the 5th of next month. This will hopefully be the first new device we will get to see in the new year, if no other OEM decides to jump on the bandwagon to join the force. (Do not believe the news you are reading elsewhere regarding the launch of LeTV Max on the same day. Our sources have confirmed that it is just a media preview event. Actual launch is sometime a week later!)

Lenovo K4 Note to launch on January 5th

The company resorted to Twitter to leak details about the device. They are terming it the "Killer Note" of 2016, which is the same term they used for the K3 Note. This confirms our speculation that the new device will be its successor.

The image above confirms the date, time and place of the launch. Also, the device will come with metal edges, as can be seen in the picture.

The smartphone will be armed with 3 GB RAM, as confirmed by the following tweet:
We are also expecting it to sport a fingerprint sensor, as the other three security features enlisted in the following tweet are already part of smartphones, thanks to software technology.
Since the device is a successor, we expect it to have upgrades in the camera and battery modules, while carry on the 4G LTE support and full HD display setup. Whether the chipset will be MediaTek or Qualcomm Snapdragon is something we are curious to know.

We expect the official specifications to be revealed any time soon.

And now we wait!
Lenovo has today announced an addition to their Vibe series with the new Vibe S1. It comes with two front cameras. Yes, you read it right!

Lenovo Vibe S1

The device has been meticulously crafted using a unique front and back Gorilla Glass design. The sleek look and premium feel of the smartphone is a result of the curved-glass rear panel and a rounded premium metal frame. With a curvature measuring 5.4 mm to 7.8 mm, and the surprisingly light weight of 132 g, the device is designed to snuggly fit in the user's hand.

On the design front, the smartphone has a premium metal and glass construction. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core processor, and 3 GB of RAM. The device has 32 GB onboard storage, which is expandable via microSD card up to 128 GB. It comes preloaded with Android Lollipop operating system. It boasts of a 5-inch full HD display, and supports 4G LTE.

The 8 MP BSI primary front camera takes the sharpest photos, and a 2 MP secondary front camera analyzes depth of field information to replicate human binocular vision. These two cameras work in tandem to unleash a myriad of new possibilities that can give selfies a creative twist. The 13 MP rear camera boasts a phase-detection autofocus (PDAF) that dramatically increases focusing speed along with a dual-color flash that optimizes color tones based on ambient lighting.

The device will be available in two color options, viz. Blue and White. It will be priced at ₹15,999 ($240 approx.), and will be available exclusively on Amazon. It will go on sale at midnight.
