Celebrity endorsements for products is not a new thing. Almost every industry spends a lot of their marketing budget making known personalities vouch for their products. Smartphones are not untouched by this behavior. While many celebrities are brand ambassadors for various smartphone manufacturers (for instance, Amitabh Bachchan for OnePlus, Deepika Padukone for Oppo), few just grace the audience with their presence during launch events (for instance, Randeep Hooda and Nimrat Kaur at Huawei Honor launch). Then there are the ones who have announced their brands - 'Being Smart' phones by Salman Khan. Recent to join this wagon is the cricketing legend Sachin Tendulkar with his srt.phone, which will be produced by Smartron, a brand in which he is an investor.

Smartron srt.phone to launch in India on May 3rd

Smartron srt.phone will be launching coming Wednesday, i.e., May 3rd. The brand took to the microblogging website Twitter to announce the same.
In case you still couldn't make it out, the name of the device is the initials of Sachin's name (Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar) followed by the keyword 'phone'. The naming strategy follows the one adopted by Smartron for the t.phone and the t.book, both of which were launched last year.

While no specifications or features have been teased so far, the upcoming device will be inspired by the God (read Sachin) himself. We expect the smartphone to feature Sachin's autograph at the rear.
Smartron srt.phone is supposed to be Flipkart exclusive.

As die-hard Sachin fans, we are waiting for the day. Are you?
As reported earlier, Smartron has launched its first ever smartphone, the t.phone, in India today, at an event held in Hyderabad. Note that they had launched their first ever product, the Smartron t.Book, earlier in March.

Smartron t.phone

The Smartron t.phone runs on Android 6.0.1 Marshmallow. It is unclear whether it is stock Android or a custom layer of software sits upon it. The battery capacity is 3,000 mAh.

The device is powered by 4 GB RAM and 64-bit 2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 octa-core processor. The onboard storage is 64 GB, which is expandable via a hybrid slot that supports either a micro SD card or a second SIM. On top of all this, t.cloud will provide unlimited cloud storage. Smartron t.phone is a hybrid dual SIM (micro and nano) smartphone. It supports VoLTE. Fast charging is supported via the USB Type-C interface.

The smartphone comes with a 5.5-inch full HD Super AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1920x1080 pixels, and pixel density of 401 pixels-per-inch. Corning Gorilla Glass 3 is used for its protection.

Smartron t.phone features a 13 MP f/2.0 primary camera with dual flash, six element lens, zero shutter lag, and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). The front-facing camera is a 4 MP shooter.

The device maintains a thin profile of just 7 mm. With a weight of only 149 g, it is the lightest smartphone to feature a 5.5-inch screen.

The first smartphone from the house of Indian IOT startup Smartron, the t.phone, is all set to launch on 19th of this month. The company has sent out a teaser confirming the same. Note that this will be the second device from the manufacturer - the t.book was launched in March earlier this year.

The teaser image says "Save the Date," along with the date itself. This is followed by a hashtag which confirms that it is, in fact, the t.phone which will be launched.  Then we see the company logo, along with the tagline "The Legacy of the Smart. CONTINUES." This is meant to be a reminder that this is not their first product in the market and that they are committed to continuing their legacy of producing smart products.

As far as the Smartron t.phone itself is concerned, it is already known to feature a 5.5-inch display. Also, it is the lightest device with that screen size.

Thanks to the t.Book event, we already know a few more things about the phone. It runs on Android Marshmallow. The rear of the smartphone confirms that it is designed and engineered in India, and is assembled in China. The manufacturer has already announced that they will be assembling in India soon and that they have partnered with Foxconn for the same. The rear camera comes with dual flash.

Have you saved the date?
