BlackBerry Bold 9900Research In Motion (RIM) has brought out its thinnest phone in the form of BlackBerry Bold 9900. It is a refresh of the Bold series of phones by RIM and combines touch and type with its capacitive LCD touchscreen and QWERTY keypad.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 Features

It is the first device to feature the BlackBerry 7 operating system. This mobile platform brings with it many features like improved browser performance, faster graphics and support for augmented reality apps.

It has features such as flash, geo-tagging, face detection, image stabilization and others. Thanks to the improved features that the new operating system brings.
It has a thin form factor. RIM has incorporated what it calls Liquid Graphics in the touchscreen of the phone that gives fluid animations and instant response times, making your touch experience all the more worthwhile.
The handset is powered by a standard lithium-ion battery. The phone battery serves a talk time of up to 6 hours in 2G and 5 hours in 3G networks.

The device has a slim and sleek appearance with brushed stainless steel rims on the edges, and a smooth carbon black back. The keypad has a wide layout giving enough room to each key. The keys are slightly elevated to make typing easier. The navigation controls and the keys are back-illuminated to help you type in darker surroundings. This also adds to your glamour quotient. ;)
The integrated GPS with preloaded BlackBerry Maps will help you find directions and new places. The handset also has access to the BlackBerry App World from where you can download applications of your choice. Additionally, the BlackBerry mobile has the regular social networking sites' apps and Document viewer to take care of both your personal and business needs.
This BlackBerry Bold series mobile phone connects to the Internet via Wi-Fi and 3G. For file transfer, the phone is endowed with Bluetooth and USB functionalities. The Bold 4 9900 has Near Field Communication (NFC) support which allows for data exchange, accessory pairing, smart tag reading/writing and transactions through your phone.

The phone is available in black or white.

Why you should buy it?

1. Smaller, thinner and hence, less weight.

2. Improved web browser.

3. Excellent display due to smaller screen size.

4. Touch and type functionality, with a superb touch.

Why you shouldn't buy it?

1. BlackBerry App World is overpriced and difficult to navigate. Also, no themes or e-books available.

2. Smaller screen size.

3. Not a 'smart'-phone: no 'select all' feature for deleting files, no suggestion for last dialed numbers as you punch some digits in.

4. No flash support, hence no online games.

BlackBerry Bold 9900 Verdict

It is a perfect business phone. If you are looking for a reliable phone for work, then this is the perfect phone. If you are willing to use it to read using the Kindle app, then this device will not serve the purpose.
