Two days ago, Coolpad has launched the Note 3 Lite. Note that this device is the mini version of its other device, the Coolpad Note 3 (first impressions). If you too are wondering what exactly are the differences between the two, wonder no more. This post compares both the smartphones on various parameters, and tries to clear the confusion.
Note 3 Lite has a slightly textured rear and a golden rim, while the Note 3 had a matte rear and a chrome rim.
Note 3 Lite runs on 64-bit MediaTek MT6735 1.3 GHz quad-core processor, coupled with Mali T720 GPU. Note 3 boasts of 64-bit MediaTek MT6753 1.3 GHz octa-core chipset, coupled with Mali T720 GPU.
Both the devices offer 3 GB of RAM, so there is a tie in this regard.
Both the devices offer 16 gigs of internal storage. The difference comes in the amount of storage each supports via the micro SD card. Note 3 Lite offers only 32 GB, while its big brother allows double.
Note 3 Lite features a 5.0 inch HD display (IPS), while Note 3 sports a 5.5 inch HD display (IPS). Hence, Note 3 has around 10% bigger screen than that of Lite.
There is another tie here. Both the smartphones offer a screen resolution of 1280x720 pixels.
Did we mention that the siblings are quite similar? Both the primary and the secondary cameras are of the same specification (13 MP and 5 MP respectively) on both the devices.
Note 3 Lite boasts of a battery of 2,500 mAh. Note 3 sports a battery of 3,000 mAh. That means almost 20% more juice on the big brother.
Note 3 Lite is 140.8 mm in height, 70.4 mm in width and 8.9 mm in depth. Note 3 is 151 mm in height, 77 mm in width and 9.3 mm in depth. Thus, Note 3 is around 7% taller, 9% wider and 5% thicker in comparison.
Note 3 Lite weighs 152 grams, while Note 3 weighs 170 grams. Thus, Note 3 Lite is effectively 12% lighter.
Note 3 Lite is currently available in White color only. Note 3 is available in two colors, viz. White and Black. This may become a tie after a couple of months, as Note 3 was also available only in White during the launch. The Black color variant was introduced later.
Both the devices feature a fingerprint sensor at the rear. Both of them run on Cool UI, which is the manufacturer's custom skin based on Android 5.1 Lollipop. We expect an update to Android Marshmallow soon.
Given the specifications, both the devices are promising for their prices. Offering a fingerprint sensor and 3 GB RAM at this price point is something that every brand cannot do. Note 3 has already done its part by breaking the market when it was launched. We think Note 3 Lite also possesses such features. Anyway, the picture will be more clear once we review the lighter version.
