Processor
Micromax Canvas 4 is powered by the latest quad core processor, with cycles at 1.5 MHz, and possessing MT6589 MediaTek chipset. You all must be aware that it was Micromax who first introduced the quad core smartphones in the Indian market with Canvas. Consequently, many other brands, including Samsung and Intex joined with their products also featuring the same.
On the other side the, Samsung Galaxy S4 comes in two models.
One with the Samsung's proprietary Exynos 5 Octa processor, making use of four
Cortex A15 cores chipset working at 1.6 GHz. There is also a four 1.9 GHz Krait
300 cores, Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 chipset variation model of the gadget. So, in the processor section, both the gadgets have enough
processing power to keep you entertained all the time. However, there's a slight
lead for Samsung here.
Display
On the display front, both the gadgets have many aspects in
common. Both possess a capacitive touch screen, and a Super AMOLED display with 16 M
colors. Both have a 5" display with 1920x1080 pixel resolution. However, the new
Canvas 4 leads here, as it comes with fully HD screen.
Memory and Connectivity
The new Canvas 4 is said to be available in 8/16 GB internal
storage models, with a 2 GB RAM. Also, there will be support for further 32 GB, using the expandable micro SD card. If we talk about Samsung Galaxy S4, it comes with a 16/32
GB internal storage, and 2 GB Ram. There is also an additional 64 GB expansion option via
micro SD. There are more options to choose in Samsung Galaxy S4, but
the Canvas 4 also has storage capabilities that are enough for a user.
In connectivity, Galaxy S4 has support for Wi-Fi 802.11
a/b/g/n/ac, NFC, Bluetooth 4.0, MHL, GPS/GLONASS, 2.0, IR LED, 4G. While
Canvas 4 supports GSM 850/900/1800/1900/HSDPA/WCDMA 850/900/1900/2100 MHz, but there is not much information about the other stats of the gadget.
Looks and other factors
From the very launch, Samsung Galaxy S4 was designed for
being feature packed, and not the designer's choice. It flaunts an all plastic body
with no distinguishing feature. However, the Canvas 4's teasers are making it
high about its looks with chamfered edges and metallic strips, bringing it
closer to the design same as that of an iPhone.
Among others, both the gadgets run on Android Jelly bean 4.2.1. However, the Canvas 4 will come with an option to upgrade the
OS to latest Android 5 as soon as it is released. Both the gadgets have a 13 MP
rear camera as well.
The trump card of Canvas 4
OK, so we detailed it
all. Now we are at the end, and here we come to the most important deciding factor - billing. Samsung Galaxy S4 costs you around ₹38,000 ($580 approx.); Canvas 4 is expected to be released at ₹20,000 ($305 approx.) max. It might be lower than this as well.
So, in a market where money is the most crucial factor, there
is no space for hefty features if you are offering competitive stats at half
the price.
Verdict
Micromax Canvas 4, due to its pocket-friendly price, and features at par with those of Samsung S4, will be the winner. Just wait and see what the
gadget offers at half the price.
