While using GPS on smartphones is a common way to find your destination, it still is annoying when you just can't figure out the direction instantly, due to improper alignment of the device. Worry no more, Animotus is here.

3D printed cube that changes shape to show directions

It is a wirelessly connected, 3D printed cube, which is based on haptic technology. But unlike other haptic devices out there, it uses movements, instead of vibrations or sound-based feedback, to alert the user. The shape of the device is determined by the user's position with respect to the destination.

How does it work?


This is how Animotus works

The upper half of the cube rotates to let the users know the direction they need to follow. Not just that, it also extends forward to indicate the distance required to reach the destination. Thus, one can feel the changing shape and be informed where to go. No more looking at the GPS device every now-and-then.

The applications are endless. It can be, for instance, integrated with Google Maps, and the visually-impaired will have no problem finding their way around the city.
