The South Korean electronics giant Samsung has decided to take Apple head on. Keeping that in mind, it has decided to launch its most powerful tablet ever - the Galaxy Tab S. It is expected to give a tough fight to the iPad Air. In terms of specifications, the device features a super AMOLED display, powered by 1.9 GHz Exynos 5420 quad-core processor with a 3 GB RAM, and has different options in terms of screen size, storage models and bearer model type. One comes with a 10.5 inch screen, while the other is equipped with a 8.4 inch display. Both these variants are either Wi-Fi only, or both Wi-Fi and 2G/3G, so that you can stay connected even on-the-go. The internal storage is either 16 GB or 32 GB. It runs on Android 4.4 with Samsung's skin, The TouchWiz UI, and packs 7,900 mAh battery.

What is attractive about the device is its thickness, or I would rather say its 'thinness'. The company claims that it is Samsung's thinnest and lightest tablet yet! At a first glance, the device looks elegant due to its rounded corners. It comes in 2 color variants - Titanium Bronze and Dazzling White.

The tablet features a super AMOLED display with a resolution of 2500x1600 pixels, and has a pixel density of 288 ppi. It has two capacitive buttons for Back and Task Manager. It also has a physical button in between these buttons, which is not only the Home button, but also acts as the fingerprint sensor. All of these buttons are placed just below the display, in the center of the longer edge.  Additionally, there is a 2.1 MP front-facing camera lens located above the display, just opposite to the side where buttons are located. Beside the camera is the Samsung branding.

The tablet has high-end hardware that includes 1.9 GHz Exynos 5420 quad-core processor coupled with Mali-T628 GPU, 3 GB RAM, 8 MP rear camera with LED flash. There is another Samsung branding just beneath the flash.

The right side of the tablet features the microSD card slot, then the micro USB port in the middle and the SIM card tray at the bottom. The 3.5 mm headset jack is on the left side. The power key and the volume rocker key are placed on the top. There are two speakers - one on the left and the other on the right.

The device has a non-removable back. The box contains the tablet in a white protective cover, along with a travel adaptor, a data cable and a quick start guide. The price printed on the box is Rs. 53,890. But the expected price is anywhere around Rs. 47,000.
