Huawei has today launched their latest smartphone under the Honor brand, the Huawei Honor 8 Pro, at an event held in Delhi, India. It had already been announced in Europe earlier this year. The Chinese know the same model as Honor V9. Given its name, it appears to be an upgrade to the Honor 8 which was launched in India last year. Recently, a 'lighter' version, termed the Honor 8 Lite, was also launched.

Huawei Honor 8 Pro comes with a 5.7-inch Quad HD display with a resolution of 2560x1440 pixels and is protected by Corning Gorilla Glass 3. The processor deployed is a Kirin 960 octa-core. It is coupled with Mali G71 GPU.

The primary camera is a dual lens setup. Each is a 12 MP lens with f/2.2 aperture. All this comes with dual LED flash, laser autofocus, and Phase Detection Auto Focus (PDAF). The front camera is a 8 MP f/2.0 lens.

The smartphone runs on 4,000 mAh battery with fast charging support. It features 6 GB RAM along with 128 GB internal storage, which is expandable up to 128 GB via microSD card.

Huawei Honor 8 Pro runs on EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. The fingerprint sensor is aptly placed at the rear.

The device will be available on Amazon July 10 onwards. It comes in black and blue color options. It is priced at ₹29,999 ($460 approx.). Note that the base model (Honor 8) was also announced at the same price. On paper, it seems to give a tough competition to the recently launched OnePlus 5.
