After the huge success of Redmi 1S, Xiaomi has launched another smartphone which is a successor. In terms of specifications, the Xiaomi Redmi 2 features an IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor with a 1 GB RAM. It comes with a 4.7 inch screen. The internal storage is 8 GB. It runs on Android 4.4 with Xiaomi's skin, the MIUI, and packs 2,200 mAh lithium-ion polymer battery.
The smartphone features an IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It has three capacitive buttons for Menu, Home and Back. All of these buttons are placed just below the display. Additionally, there is a 2 MP front-facing camera lens located above the display on the left hand side, just opposite to the side where buttons are located.
The smartphone has high-end hardware that includes 1.2 GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor, 1 GB RAM, 8 GB internal flash memory (expandable up to 32 GB), a 8 MP rear camera with LED flash located on the left of the camera lens. On the rear, the speakers are located on the right of the camera lens. At the bottom part, in the center, is the Mi branding.
The right side of the device features the power key and the volume rocker key. The 3.5 mm headset jack is at the top right. The micro USB port is at the bottom right. The device has a removable back. The smartphone supports dual micro SIM, which can be inserted by opening the back and removing the battery. The micro SD slot can also be accessed only after un-mounting the battery.
Coming in at 133 g and 9.4 mm depth, the phone feels outstanding in the hand with its curved edges. The small-screen size definitely makes it handy.
The box contains the smartphone with its display covered, along with a travel adaptor, a data cable, a user manual and a warranty card. There are no headphones in the box. The printed price on the box is ₹6,999. It is being sold via Flipkart at the same price.
