[Hands on] Coolpad Dazen 1

Another Chinese OEM has finally decided to enter the lucrative Indian market to take the home competitors head-on. Coolpad launched Dazen 1 smartphone two days ago in an event in New Delhi. It is likely to hit the market on June 9 via Snapdeal, where registrations for the exclusive flash sale have already started. It is expected to give a tough competition to the famous Xiaomi Redmi 2 (first impressions). In terms of specifications, this smartphone features an IPS display, powered by 1.2 GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon quad-core processor with 2 GB RAM. It comes with a 5.0 inch screen. The internal storage is 8 GB, which is expandable up to 32 GB. It runs on Android 4.4, and packs 2,500 mAh battery.

The smartphone features an IPS display with a resolution of 1280x720 pixels. It has three capacitive buttons for Menu, Home and Back. Additionally, there is a 5 MP front facing camera lens located above the display, to the right of the earpiece, just opposite to the side where the buttons are located.

The smartphone has high-end hardware that includes 1.2 GHz Qualcomm quad-core processor, 2 GB RAM, 8 internal flash memory (expandable up to 32 GB), a 8 MP rear camera with LED flash located just beside the camera lens, to its right. Just above the camera lens is the secondary microphone, while a Dazen branding below it. At the bottom part on the rear, in the center, is the Coolpad branding. The speakerphone is located just below it.

The right side of the device features the power key. The smartphone supports dual SIM, which can be inserted by opening the back cover. There is also a microSD slot.

The 3.5 mm headset jack is at the top left.

The micro USB port is at the bottom right.

Coming in at 9.3 mm depth, the phone feels outstanding in the hand with its curved edges. The small screen size definitely makes it handy.
