Gionee announced the launch of its much awaited smartphone, the Marathon M5 in Beijing, China.
The smartphone packs a huge 6,000 mAh battery that lasts up to 4 days, which is a great improvement over the 5,000 mAh battery in its ancestor Marathon M3. It has a smart power consumption system especially under extreme mode; it can standby for up to 62 hours even there is only 5% of power left. The device can be charged within a short time and is also capable of reverse charging, i.e., it can be used as a power bank to charge two cellphones at the same time. The device features a 5.5 inch HD AMOLED screen, dual LTE, 13.0 MP back and 5.0 MP front camera, Android L along with 16 GB ROM and 2 GB RAM. The chipset used is MediaTek MT6735, which is a 64-bit quad-core processor that supports 4G LTE.
Gionee also announced its cooperation with WeBank to launch the Gionee Wallet. The company will work to build a reliable vertical ecosystem based on the personal mobile devices. The smartphone will be released in different countries and areas later.
