[Smartphone] Meizu Pro 5 launched

Meizu officially launched its high-end flagship smartphone, the Pro 5, at an event held in Beijing today. The device is aimed to bring a better user experience to consumers.

The device features the new Sony 21 MP CMOS. In addition, the camera also integrates PDAF phase focusing and laser-assisted focusing to significantly improve the focusing speed under complicated lighting conditions. The OmniVision OV5670 CMOS, f/2.2 large aperture ring with 5 MP is used for the front camera of the device.


The smartphone sports a 5.7-inch full HD AMOLED display. An Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit processor, combined with an octa-core Mali-T760 graphics renderer provide processing power to the device. It is also equipped with a Sensor Hub co-processor, which is also a mini computing center.

The battery capacity is 3,050 mAh. Sony/ATL fast-charging cell is used. The smartphone runs on Android 5.0, with customized Flyme OS on the top. It comes in two configurations, viz. 3 GB RAM, 32 GB storage and 4 GB RAM, 64 GB storage.

The device comes with a fingerprint sensor, and supports fast charging. The charging port is a USB Type-C. It supports dual Nano SIM cards, same as the one present on Meizu MX5.

The device comes in Gray, Silver White, Silver Black and Rose Gold color options. It is priced at RMB2799 ($440 approx.) for the 3 GB/32 GB variant, and RMB3099 ($485 approx.) for the 4 GB/64 GB variant.
