One of the main
problems which is faced by the bloggers and article writers is screen
capture, which can help them a great deal while writing the review articles and
posts. There is a lot of craze for video blogging, as they are much easier
to learn from and comprehend, as compared to the simple plain text descriptions and
manuals.
Suppose that
you are doing an app review. Instead of writing the features and other stuff
about the app, it would be much more cool and sexy if you give your viewers a
short and crisp video tutorial of the app. There are a number of ways by which
you can capture the screen of your iPhone and other smart devices. People think
to sell old cell phones and get
shifted to iPhones. So, here
are some of the ways through which you can capture the screen of your iDevices.
1. Using
the iPad and iPhone simulator: Like Windows, there are a number of tools and
software that are available for the Mac that would mimic the iPhone or any
other iDevice on which you can do the screencast. Some of the excellent tools
which are available today include ScreenFlow, Camtasia Studio and Jing. There
is another excellent tool, SimFinger which would allow you to focus on some
specific part of the screen.
2. Using
your own iPhone, iPad or any other iDevice: This option requires you to
jailbreak your iDevice in order to utilize the screen capture functionality.
The Cydia app, Display Recorder is capable of doing this task very easily. The
app is capable of recording the videos in a number of available formats such as
AVI and MJPG. The app reviews can be done much more easily, and you can also
record audio and build your library for further distribution. The app is also
capable of supporting the YouTube uploads and has advanced settings for the
frame rates and quality settings. The hardware acceleration and remote control
has also been included in the app so that you get the best videos in terms of
quality and content. The tool is not able to record the system audio. Display
Recorder is successfully able to capture the screen of the iPhone 4S, iPhone 4,
iPad 2 and new iPad. There are some issues which are reported with the game
capturing and the lower generation iDevices. The Display Recorder is available
as a paid app on the Cydia App Store for $4.99 and a jailbreak is necessary in
order to install it. Many of you would think that it is pretty expensive for
them but believe me, this app is best suited for the bloggers and the reviewers
who can always offer something more to their viewers. There
are a number of other options which would make this app much simpler and easier
for you. The videos are recorded in the OpenGL format which can be used even
during the Games and motions apps. Even though some devices have reported some
issues with it but it has been tested to work on almost all the devices.
Besides this, a number of video effects such as Grey-scale, X-Ray effect and
much more can be applied on the video.
3. Using
the Digital Camera: This is another way through which you can capture the
screen of your iDevice. There must be a dedicated tripod that is needed to
capture the screen, so that the hand movements can be shown in the video.
4. Using
Airplay: The Airplay is an excellent service that is introduced by Apple, and which would stream the screen of your iPad or iPhone on the Mac wirelessly.
There are no jailbreaks or additional software that is required. Once the
iDevice is beamed to your Mac desktop, you can use the easily available tools
such as Camtasia Studio, Jing or ScreenFlwo which would capture the screen of
your iDevice.
